• Establish and build HRMC, L.L.C., a one-person risk management consulting business that provides consultation, training and program development on such things as workers' compensation issues, safety & health questions, human resource matters, general liability concerns for over 100 clients including sheet metal, nursing home, retail and public employer trade associations, private construction and other companies, public school districts, county programs and state agencies.


• Provide expert consultation for claims and litigation involving safety/risk-related issues such as slips & falls, trips & falls, premises liability and falling merchandise in general liability and workers' compensation matters.


• Serve as safety advisor for a publishing company that has 20+years of success in producing health promotion newsletters and other publications for over 2 million readers who are affiliated with corporations, health plan networks, unions, government and military groups in the U.S. and Canada.


• Write articles for newspapers, trade association magazines and newsletters on risk management-related topics including such things as emergency preparedness, customer service-focused safety programs, incorporating accommodation considerations in building construction, and aging workforce issues.


• Established and built at Bellevue Community College (BCC), the largest community college in the State of Washington, a Risk Management Certificate Program that was designed to offer a recommended, introductory level of information needed to manage risks for individuals new to the field, as well as continuing education credits for professionals in insurance, safety, industrial hygiene, human resources and accounting who want to update, refresh or add to their knowledge base. The Program was sponsored by the Risk & Insurance Management Society (RIMS) Washington Chapter.


• Established, implemented and monitored a sheet metal industry computer database of 2000+ Material Safety DataSheets (MSDSs) for all contractor members of a sheet metal trade association.


• Taught classes in risk management/safety as adjunct staff and guest lecturer at various community colleges and universities in the greater Seattle area.

• Established and built AMS, a risk management consulting business that, after five years, employed eight persons and generated $500,000 per year in revenue from over 200 clients including companies, trade associations, labor unions and apprenticeship training programs.

• Served as member of senior management team for this public mental health facility with 3,000 employees located in 67 buildings spread over 135 acres.


• Saved $30 million over a two-year period for workers' compensation alone: 58% reduction in premium, 71% reduction in time-loss claims, 68% reduction in rate of injury.

• Published Oregon State Plan for Mental Health Programs for Older Oregonians in 1975.


• Chaired statewide task forces and wrote chapters in Washington State Health Plan on Home Care, Radiation Therapy and End Stage Renal Disease.


• Directed model federal Hospital Improvement Project for placement of long term mentally ill geriatric residents to community settings.
